For as long as I can remember, there have always been two things which, sadly enough, our own government has used to get the general population to go along with it on whatever policies it has proposed, Especially during times of uncertainty.
Ignorance and Fear have always been the biggest allies in any government’s ability to control it’s people.
Fear is a great motivator in keeping people focused on whatever threat, whether real or imagined. If you can instill fear in your people, you can prett…

A friend at work said to me, “ I think I’ve lost my mind,” to which I replied, “Well, it is a very small object in a very large space!”
Next time you’re annoying someone and they tell you, “Cut the shit,” be sure to reply, “ Why do you want to lick the knife?”
Some years back, every football season, without fail, I would be sitting watching a game and my brother would always come in and ask, “ What’s the score?” I would reply with something like, “24 to 14,” or whatever the score happened to…

1 - First Important Lesson - Cleaning Lady.
During my second month of college, our professor
Gave us a pop quiz. I was a conscientious student
And had breezed through the questions until I read
The last one:
"What is the first name of the woman who cleans the
school?"
Surely this was some kind of joke. I had seen the
Cleaning woman several times. She was tall,
Dark-haired and in her 50's, but how would I know her name?
I handed in my paper, leaving the last question
Blank. Just bef…

I am trying to network a bit.
I am the Gay pastor of a GLBT Affirming church presently in Dallas, TX. Our ministry (a fully GLBT Affirming and Inclusive Pentecostal ministry) is contemplating moving to the Austin area. We are trying to see if there might be any folks i...n Austin who would be interested in being a part of our church were we to move it there. If you, or anyone you may know, might be interested, I would love to talk with you (or them). I may be contacted at RevChasM@Yahoo.com or b…

Dear Mike,
The saddest thing you can say to anyone is “goodbye,” but
sometimes in life, it is the only thing.
I’m writing you now, to say that very thing because I feel
the distance that has grown between us and the unspoken
words that we both have been keeping inside so as to not
truly hurt one another. I know people, aside from
ourselves, say and do things that influence how we feel or
treat others around us. People can be cruel and unthinking
at times. My life does not revolve around such pe…

Well, let’s add Maine to the map of The United Hates Of
America. I think by denying Gay people their right to
marry should be deemed a “Hate Crime,” because it has
become a form of “Emotional Genocide” against a single
group of tax paying Americans. Literally “killing” their
chance at spending their lives with the person they love,
wanting to be able to show that love in the same way as
every other American, and being given the same rights as
every other couple.
The Mormon Church should be held…

We are constantly being given challenges and situations in life that we must react to, deal with, and somehow overcome in order to live decent lives. Sometimes things come at us that truly test us as human beings. Still, we get through it and move on, because we have to. It is who we are. It is what we do.
There is one thing, however, that as long as I live, I will never understand, get used to, or ever be able to fully deal with. When I’m hurt by someone I care about. I just can’t seem to be ab…

First off, I’m not a “know-it-all,” but I know a lot. I’m sorry if that’s bothersome to a few people, but it’s who and how I am. If I come across as a person who feels he has to “impose” his opinion on a lot of things, it’s only because I have much to say or contribute to a particular subject.
For years, I kept silent about so many things I saw or heard around me. As much as I wanted to say something, there was always that “little voice,” inside that told me, “Don’t make waves.” Now that I’m old…

As in anything in life, you get out of it what you put in. The same goes for people you choose as friendships or in relationships. The manner in which you treat others reflects how you will be treated, in most cases. If you treat others well you will be treated well, but if you treat badly, more than likely you will be treated badly. However you can be a decent person and still be treated badly by someone else. Being a decent person doesn’t always guarantee you will be treated well. There are so…

Someone recently asked me when “Real” change would come. I said it already has begun with the election of Barack Obama as President of The United States, although he is only the Hope of Change. One man cannot bring about change, no matter how much we wish it.
I thought about it some more, I thought about the people who suffered in the Civil Rights movement, the people who suffered after Hurricane Katrina and the slow government response, and the people suffering in the Gay Rights movement who ha…

It seems to me that whenever anyone in the world kills Americans, the entire country, including The United States Congress condemns it, and is up in arms working feverishly to bring those responsible to justice. Yet, during the on-going debates on Healthcare Reform, many Americans have died due to a lack of affordable healthcare or insurance as a result of the inaction by our Congress. No one seems upset by this, but maybe it’s about time they were, especially The House of Representatives and Th…

I am grateful that at this time in my life, I have chosen to take the time to reflect on the things and people that got me here. I don’t mean just the people who have truly helped me, but the people who have wronged me, and taught me how not to be. I think of how I got here, where I am going, and realize how lucky I am to be able to sit here , with the ability to choose my path. I’m glad I treat people as decently as I do, I see the appreciation in their eyes. I know all I can do is be the best…

Failure, by definition, is the condition or fact of not achieving the desired end or ends.
This to me is highly inaccurate. As far as I’m concerned there is no such thing as failure, by its’ definition. When you seek to achieve something, you put forth a certain amount of time and effort into it. Achievement may be your ultimate goal, but other things are attained in any effort or attempt in reaching your desired end. When you work at anything, and I mean anything, there are always things you di…

How to Avoid the Swine
Eat right!
Make sure you get your daily dose of fruits and veggies.
Take your vitamins and bump up your vitamin C.
Get plenty of exercise because exercise helps build your immune system.
Walk for at least an hour a day.
Go for a swim.
Take the stairs instead of the elevator, etc.
Wash your hands often.
If you can't wash them,

I hear a lot of people say, especially when they find out I’m an artist, that they don’t have an artistic bone in their bodies. I happen to disagree and here’s why:
Everybody, I don’t care who they are, have a unique way about them. The way they walk, see, talk, think, sit, work, sleep, or even breathe. Everyone, in my opinion, is a work of art by just being themselves. Think about it. The different shades, the wrinkles, blue eyes, green eyes, hair colors, Heights, weights, shapes, or anything t…
