Hello all, Helpful Hank Here,
It’s been a few weeks since I have last posted a blog spot. Been kind of busy working on various projects. Hummie and Harvey Among many of the projects I have been working on one was the re-finishing of a secretary cabinet. Seen below.

The Seeds We Sew
Hello all, Helpful Hank Here,
Well another year has come and gone for me. A year that has been filled with many challenges but with much hope. Friendships hanging by a shoestring now on the mind and friendships stronger then every.
Life is about change and believe me my life has changed plenty. For me this has been a time of growth. However, as the year came to a close I realized how much that I have gained and will gain as a result from this year of change.
I have a birthd…

Hello all, Helpful Hank here,
Today I want to talk about two different things, The Day of Decision rally and some fun summer time crafts.
Day of Decision Rally
A week ago Tuesday I went to the day of decision rally. You can catch my video of it here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Np3C0eGFOHM there were about 200 some people at this rally and it struck me how the continued message was do not give up hope.
Forty years after Stone Wall we as a glbt community still struggle for complete acceptan…

Next Stop Iowa
Hello All Helpful Hank Here,
I would like to talk about a subject that I feel personally connected to. That is the decision just handed down in Iowa and Vermont to allow same gender marriage. The decision to allow same gender marriage in Iowa and Vermont is a victory for all. For me personally it is validating.
I have to say I was a bit surprised at the out come. No offense to Iowa but I have never really thought of it as a progressive state. If Americas heartland can come to…

Hello all, Helpful Hank Here, Today I want to talk about Reinventing how we make our income. Here in the valley the unemployment rate has jumped to 10.3%. I understand it’s the highest it has ever been or the highest it has been in years. If you are unemployed it can seem like you will never find another job.
In this economy companies are just not bringing in new staff and are reluctant to fill needed vacant position choosing rather to train and teach employees that they have to be able to hand…

Hi All, Helpful Hank Here, Today I would like to talk a bit about Travel. Now Hanks husband does a lot of traveling, But O’l Hank here doesn’t get to do a whole lot himself. I have to keep the home fires burning. When I do get to travel, I enjoy it. For the most part, it is just as easy and safe to travel by plane, and sometimes even cheaper then to travel by car. I haven’t been many places but where I have been for the most part I have enjoyed. I would say that every one of the trips…

Hi all, Helpful Hank here,
In my last post I talked about two words Hope and Patients and how I have learned valuable lesson from each of these word and, how they have shaped my life. I’d like to know what you folks think. What words, phrases, or sayings motivate you? How have they have shaped you on your life’s journey.
Here are some replies to Helpful Hanks first post
Dear Helpful Hank,
Boiling water works well sometimes also along with the best way, a pipe wrench, remove and clean the trap.…

Hi all it’s Helpful Hank Here
I look back over my life and the many who have passed through it and are still in my life. I think about those who have taught me some pretty valuable lessons whether they knew it or not. The importance of having hope ( The Heart) and the importance of having patients ( The Mind ) are two of the most important ones. Both have saved my life more then once. Kay taught me that if it is impossible to say you can’t then you can’t say it’s impossible. That is hope. My fa…

When Cleaning surfaces use a mixture of Scented dish Liquid ( 1 part ) with ( 4 parts ) water in a spray bottle. Spray down surface add Ajax or Comet on top wipe in and let the mixture set for ten minutes or so then wipe counter down. The scented dish liquid (I like just the generic apple scented dish liquid) cuts down on the unpleasant smell and helps get your counter clean without leaving a film or making your counter tacky to the touch afterward thus alleviating the need to re-wipe your count…

I started thinking to myself about the economic times we are in and we find ourselves no looking for a deal where maybe a few years back we didn't. To that ends I have decided to devote a portion of my blogging time to sharing information on money saving coupons or special deals. Legitimate ways to make Money on line (because it all takes work folks, but it shouldn't have to cost you a lot to get started.)
It's interesting to see the shift in the career market as far as what people feel are sta…

We Ask President Obama to remember
As we look forward to the inauguration of our new President, Our first African American President. We ask as our new President takes the oath of office that he remember. Remember those of us who are still second-class citizens because we are not allowed to marry
We ask him to remember the thousands of reasons why marriage is so important to us.
We ask him to remember when he last felt discriminated against, and to let that feeling sink in so that he remembers…

Dr. Joseph Lowery’s Benediction at President Obama’s Inauguration
God of our weary years, God of our silent tears, thou, who has brought us thus far along the way, thou, who has by thy might led us into the light, keep us forever in the path we pray, lest our feet stray from the places, our God, where we met thee, lest our hearts drunk with the wine of the world, we forget thee.
Shadowed beneath thy hand, may we forever stand true to thee, oh God, and true to our native land.
We truly give th…

Anger from nowhere
Anger from nowhere always throws me for a loop
I thought it was the past?
It sometimes becomes the present.
Anger from nowhere has no place
It’s misplaced, misaligned, get misinterpreted, misread.
It is like cutting back to the past where the knifes where sharp.
The jagged cuts that took so long to heal have healed
Anger from nowhere makes them seep makes them weep.
It’s shards of glass to small to see but not to feel.
It feels like a cactus thorns prick it hurts.…

The New Civil War.
It isn’t over till we have won the Civil War for complete equality across our nation, across our globe. We have much work to be done. We must take our hard won battles and use that energy to win this Civil War. We must stay strong we must keep up the good fight.
We have momentum let’s use it to take us to the next level, the repeal of DOMA. We will have to fight state to state I know but we also have to fight nationally. This Civil War will not be won state to state but it wi…

The Cry of Social Injustice
The cry for social injustice has been heard before.
Many have yet to heed it’s lessons
Discrimination!
What part of that word is O.K. with some folks?
Who is it that has felt it now feels it is O.K. to have dealt it?
The cry for social injustice must be cried once more.
It must be heard, it must be heard
Bigotry?
What part of tat word is appealing to those who have faced it?
Why can’t we simple erase it?
Take it off the map wipe it out.
Why do the Bigot…
